October 1st, 2007. Auterra, LLC announced today
that it will release the revolutionary DashDyno SPD™. DashDyno combines a scan
tool, performance meter and data logger into one, easy-to-use instrument for
the automotive enthusiast. DashDyno is a unique device introducing many
industry-first features.
DashDyno can be handheld or mounted inside a vehicle. A windshield suction cup mount
with a quick release feature makes installation a snap.
It easily connects to any 1996 or newer vehicle using the OBD II diagnostic port
located under the dashboard - no hard wiring is required. The diagnostic port
powers the device and offers access to 133 different vehicle parameters; such as
engine RPM, oxygen sensors, fuel economy, and air-fuel ratio.
Traditional scan tool features such as
reading/clearing the dashboard Check Engine light and displaying the freeze
frame are supported. Access to thousands of generic and enhanced diagnostic
trouble code definitions are displayed directly on screen.
Vehicle horsepower/torque and acceleration times are
measured and graphically displayed. All graph screens zoom in/out and scroll
right/left/up/down. A vertical cursor moves along the graph to obtain exact measurements
anywhere along the curve. The dynamometer also supports automatic performance
measuring where an acceleration test is performed every time the vehicle
accelerates from a stop.
The data logger records data from the vehicle
diagnostic port, analog inputs, a digital input, and an external GPS. Up to 16
parameters may be simultaneously recorded. An external SD / MMC memory card slot
means never running out of storage. There is even a digital oscilloscope mode to
record user selected analog signals.
Connecting custom sensors, an external wideband O2
controller and even a GPS is easy using the two auxiliary ports. Four analog
inputs, a digital input, a digital output and a serial port offer the utmost in
flexibility. Each analog input has a 6, 12 and 24 volt range select for
monitoring any vehicle signal. A custom formula may be applied to any analog
input for conversion into other units of measure. The serial port connects to
any serial handheld GPS receiver.
Three user programmable high intensity alarm lights
illuminate or flash when sensor limits are exceeded. The digital output
open/closed state is also programmable based upon sensor values. The eight-button backlit keypad with secondary functions provides intuitive user control.
The software user interface is fast and responsive. Software screen wizards ask
simple questions making multi-step operations quick and easy. Screen setups can
easily be
saved to the external memory card for easy recall.
Recorded data may be viewed directly on DashDyno or a
PC using the Dyno-Scan for Windows software. Dyno-Scan for Windows may also
display live vehicle data when connected to the mini USB connector for those
situations
when laptop diagnostics may be preferred.
Free software upgrades can be downloaded from the
Internet and installed through the mini USB port as new features are
added.
DashDyno and Dyno-Scan for Windows utilize Google
Earth to correlate recorded vehicle sensor data with the vehicle's GPS
georeferenced
position. Dyno-Scan for Windows automatically controls the Google Earth position
and camera angle. Moving the data cursor within a recorded data file causes
Google Earth to fly to the new position. Playback data and Google Earth flies
behind the vehicle position exactly where the data was recorded. This is an extremely
powerful tool in analyzing vehicle data whether on a racetrack, off road or
around town. Google Earth is a free software application available as a download
from
Google.
DashDyno SPD™ is expected to go on sale October
19th,
2007.
